Semi-synthetic (plant cellulose)

Lyocell (Tencel) fabric

Lyocell, best known by the TENCEL brand, is the cleanest semi-synthetic fibre. It is made in a closed-loop process that recovers almost all of its solvent, from certified wood, and it is smooth, moisture-managing, and biodegradable. A strong pick for sensitive skin.

Lyocell production recovers over 99.8 percent of its solvent in a closed loop (Lenzing).

On your skin

Smooth and low-irritation, with good moisture management for a drier feel against the skin. One of the better choices for sensitive skin.

Comfort and performance

Silky drape with better moisture handling than cotton and less odour build-up.

Durability

Stronger than viscose and holds up well when wet. Usually machine washable cold.

Environmental impact

Best-in-class cellulosic: a closed loop recovers over 99.8 percent of its solvent, the wood is FSC or PEFC certified, and the fibre is certified biodegradable.
