Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 June 2026
ClothTrace is built privacy-first. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- We do not collect your personal data on our servers.
- Your scans run on your device.
- Your saved scans and settings are stored in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell data.
What the app stores, and where
- Saved scans, wardrobe and preferences are written to your device and to your personal iCloud private database (Apple CloudKit). This is your iCloud, tied to your Apple ID. The developer has no access to it and cannot read your scans.
- App settings (such as your chosen priorities and onboarding state) are cached on your device and synced through your private iCloud key-value store.
Camera and photos
- The camera is used only to read a care label you point it at. Image processing happens on your device.
- If you pick a photo instead, it is read only to perform that one scan.
- If you add a photo of a garment to your wardrobe, it is stored on your device and your private iCloud. Images are not uploaded to the developer.
Optional cloud assistance
A future version may offer, as an opt-in, sending a single label image to a processing service to improve a difficult read. If and when that ships, it will be clearly disclosed in the app before any image leaves your device, and this policy will be updated. As of this version, scans are processed on-device only.
Analytics and tracking
- ClothTrace does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- We do not build an advertising profile of you.
Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. ClothTrace never sees your payment details. Purchase and renewal are handled entirely by your Apple ID.
Children
ClothTrace is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. Because we do not collect personal data, the app is safe for general audiences.
Your control
- Deleting a scan in the app removes it from your device and your iCloud.
- Signing out of iCloud, or disabling iCloud for ClothTrace in iOS Settings, keeps everything local to your device.
- Deleting the app removes its on-device data.
